PSP UK Sales Rise 60%

For a while there, the PSP appeared to be in dire straits. But recently, all we've been hearing about is how much more popular Sony's portable has become. This here is more evidence of that, as Sony is reporting that since dropping the price of the little system by £20 in the UK (that was May 4), they've seen a 60% increase in sales. Amazing what a little price drop can do for you, isn't it?

The basic pack currently sits at £130, and Play.com and Amazon are listing it for £10 less, so it's no real surprise to see an increase in sales.

"The price realignment was about passing on manufacturing cost savings to customers. This new price point opens up a new wave of consumers to the PSP experience," said Sony's sales director Andrew Howsen, speaking to MCV.

Some of the bigger games have already released for the PSP (Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Burnout Dominator, and Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters come to mind), and even more are on the way for 2007, so hopefully, sales will continue to increase. And of course, a lowered price tag is always more incentive for any consumer.
