Eric Staal Named NHL 08 Cover Athlete

  Even though EA's other simulations have left a lot to be desired, they did good with last year's NHL 07. This week EA announced and simultaneously revealed NHL 08, and they've now announced that the cover athlete of the game will be Erica Staal, who is the center for the Carolina Hurricanes. Aside from being a Stanley Cup winner, Staal was a no brainer for the cover with his 75 goals over the past two seasons, and his fanaticism with videogames.

   “I am a huge fan of the NHL franchise and played NHL 07 fanatically,” said Staal. “I am honored to be named to the EA SPORTS™ family and the NHL 08 team.”

   What will separate NHL 08 from 2K Sports' title is that the EA game will feature the AHL exclusively for the first time, with all 29 teams from the primary development league for the NHL fully playable in game.
