PSP News: Redesigned PSP Hits Japan On September 20

Redesigned PSP Hits Japan On September 20

By now, we've heard all about the new redesigned PSP, scheduled for a worldwide launch this September. But we've finally added the Japanese details after solidifying the North American and European info; each region is getting several different SKUs.

The updated handheld will arrive in Japan on September 20, and be available in six different colors right off the bat: Piano Black, Ice Silver, Ceramic White, Rose Pink, Felicia Blue and Lavender Purple. The core system will retail for JPY 19,800. As most gamers already know, this new PSP is 33% lighter, 19% slimmer, has faster loading times, is better on batteries, and has a new video feature that allows users to connect directly to a TV for play.

Each region will also get a special entertainment pack, but we haven't heard what Japan's will be. The U.S. will receive a Daxter PSP Entertainment Pack and a Star Wars-themed PSP in October, for example. The core system in North America will have a $169.99 price tag, while those nifty Entertainment Packs will cost $199.99.
