No, we haven't started a Dreamcast section, it is
actually official and has been stated that Dead or
Alive 2 will arrive on the PS2. You DC enthusiasts
may be thinking, "that isn't gonna' happen
'cause Tecmo made a deal with Sega to publish DoA2
exclusively for DC". Well think again, first of
the deal lasts for 6 months, and it is only for the
US. So now that the Sega people have their jaws on
the floor, let's get back to our story. Tecmo's
beastie game Dead or Alive 2 has been announced for
the PS2 and is expected to be released pretty damn
soon. The game was originally planned to be released
simultaneously along with Tekken Tag, but the
competition was too much for Tecmo so they decided
to delay the game to an unknown date. Rest assured
though, the busty beauties of DoA2 will arrive on
the PS2. Keep reading for more info on the game.
If you
haven't seen the screens of DoA2 working under the
DC you don't know what you are missing. Currently
next to Tekken Tag, this is the cleanest fighter
that is yet to be released. Facial features, skin
smoothing, and the body structure as well as
movement should be flawless. To everybody who has
imported a PS2, you will be happy to know that DoA2
will be a replica of the DC version almost in every
way. There are just a few areas of the game that
will run at 60 frames, instead of 30 frames like the
DC version. In addition to that the PS2 version of
DoA2 will be based on the Millenium Edition of Dead
or Alive 2, which was released in the arcades
earlier. Basically what it is just an update with a
real-time opening and more costumes.
Like
Tekken Tag, DoA2 also lets you switch between
fighters in a Tag Battle mode, and you do that with
no loading times at all. What's even more
interesting is that you can summon your partner to
help you pull off a crippling attack on your
opponent (think Capcom's "Versus" titles).
The navigation is expected to be great, during
battles you can run away from your enemy and run up
the stairs, jump down to another platform, get
knocked through a window, etc. To sum up the action
in a few words: Almost everything around is fully
interactive (voila!). You will battle out in 9
different locations, you will be able to destroy
most of what you see, and you will battle with 13
different characters.
We are
dying to hear more about DoA2 on PS2, but as soon as
more screens and info leaks out, we will update this
preview.
