One
of PS2's Japanese launch titles, Golf Paradise may
not be the talk of the town but it really is a game
worth talking about. First of all think of it as Hot
Shots Golf and then picture it on the PS2 with
different characters and different options.
Impressed yet? You should be, Although Golf games
have probably been the least popular genre in video
gaming, some titles like Hot Shots show that all you
have to do is stray away from the real thing and
make the a title more appealing. This seems to be
the case with Golf Paradise, read on for more.
The game's visuals are quite rejuvenating, it isn't
anything that say the Dreamcast can't handle but
they are still quite nice. What's most noticeable is
the luxuriant colors that are used in the
surrounding environment. The grass is incredibly
detailed, golfers look exceptionally good and the
backgrounds are by far the best I have ever
witnessed in any game. Take a look at the screen
with the lake in it and notice the reflections (ooh,
la-la). The trees and the mountains really
complement the game's whole visual structure, and
that is a very good thing.
Though the gameplay is expected to be a cross of
simulation and arcade in order to please any golfing
gamer. GP features seven fully customizable
characters statistically speaking and not only that
but the courses are randomly generated by the PS2.
So it will be a rare event when you notice yourself
playing the same golf course over and over again.
Golf Paradise is still a big question mark in terms
of the US release. There haven't been any
announcements yet on plans to release the game
outside of Japan. For now enjoy the screens we have
for ya!
