Developed
by the same people who brought us Midtown Madness
for PC, Midnight Club: Street Racing is a game where
a cabby falls in with the wrong crowd. This cab
driver happens to see some illegal street racing
going on and so he decides to join the fun. The game
is a PS2 release, and it is still in its early form
of development. Check out the preview of Midnight
Club.
The expected graphics aren't spectacular but they
aren't bad. The environments are brightly lit, and
the backgrounds are sharply detailed. Although
textures such as buildings need some more work, and
the cars have too much chrome. Lighting effects such
as backlight trails will be part of the games eye
candy atmosphere, but perhaps the look is a bit
exaggerated. At an early stage, the game's cars look
somewhat boxy, and harsh. Hopefully the final result
changes. The backgrounds so far as the best feature
of the game, they really look good.
The story I have explained already, a cabby driving
around, until noticing some illegal racing action
going on, so he decides to join and WAM next thing
he knows the cops want him. Speaking of that, there
will be cops chasing your tail, to pull you over and
possibly expel you from the race. Midnight Racing
will take place in New York, London, and Tokyo.
Players will encounter traffic jams, find shortcuts,
and even come to some road blocks or obstacles.
Midnight Racing will play in the vein of GT
Interactive's Driver, and similar to Driver the game
will also sport some dramatic crashes, oooh...ahhh.
Midnight Club: Street Racing has received no
official release date, and it is still under the TBA
list. Hopefully this changes in a short time, and we
may possibly experience this game before the years
end. Enjoy these screens we have to offer for you,
but don't forget that those are coming from a very
early stages of development..
