Konami recently announced that their arcade hit,
Silent Scope will be arriving not only on the DC,
but on the PS2 as well. And guess what, the title
will be a launch game, yep folks your kill frenzy on
the PS2 will begin on October 26th. Silent Scope
almost makes me feel like I am looking at Time
Crisis' soul being reborn on the PS2 along with the
DC. Namco started the Time Crisis series and
throughout the world the franchise became huge.
After Time Crisis on PS, I never saw another
Arcade/1st person shooter on the PS again. Although
it isn't Namco, Konami will surely be bringing out
their arcade shooter on the PS2, check out details
and first screens.
Comparing the DC and PS2 versions, the PS2 easily
takes the cake. The visuals are much crisper and are
overall smoother on the PS2. It looks as if the
Emotion Engine and Graphic Synthesizer are working
quite nicely together. Take a look at the screens
notice how lovely the buildings look, the
environments and especially the great textures.
There is a shot of the Sniper aiming at a Football
player, check out the detail that Konami is putting
into little things like the sidelines, the track,
the field course that surrounds the grass and even
the ads. This will honestly be one of the titles to
pick up when the PS2 arrives. The PS2 version is
arcade perfect when it comes down to the visuals,
but how is it in the gameplay?
Again the action will remain faithful to the Arcade
in very aspect, except the control. By control I
mean that it still hasn't be said on whether or not
the PS2 version of Silent Scope will use some sort
of gun, honestly I wouldn't mind using my Logic 3
P7K gun or my Namco GunCon, it's said that all they
do is collect dust, so hopefully Konami will include
some sort of gun feature in the final version of the
game. Your array of modes include Story, Shooting
Range, Time Attack and a Two Player mode. There are
additional modes to those four and they will only be
found on the console versions of SS. Some of the
screens reveal that this is one hell of a bloodbath,
the game will definitely bring something new to the
fast growing Stealth genre. The plot of SS is simple
and very Hollywood, the presidents daughter is
kidnapped, yatta yatta yatta, it's up to you to save
her, blah blah blah. Ok so the story sucks and is
something that you have seen everyday, but what
makes this games plot so twisting is that not only
do you kill terrorists that look like what they are,
but some terrorists can be dressed up as Football
players, and it is your duty to "bust a
cap" in the guys head. Silent Scope will be one
of the PS2's first gems, this definitely a must buy
launch game for those who want to fulfill they MGS
needs as well as Time Crisis needs.
