Remember reading all of these allegations about a
sequel to Ehrgeiz, and then you saw some screenshots
of the rumored game running on the PS2. Technically
the rumors weren't completely false, Square and
Dream Factory (who are the developers of Ehrgeiz)
have teamed up once again to bring you an unofficial
secret to Ehrgeiz. The Bouncer is Square's newest
masterpiece, and is a fighter with great
expectations. Compared to other PS2 titles such as
Tekken Tag Tournament and Gran Turismo 2000, The
Bouncer is a game that stands out on its own. TTT is
a 4th generation title and GT2000 is a 3rd
generation title, but The Bouncer is the first (and
hopefully not the last) title of its kind. So see
how this Square marvel is looking so far.
On a visual stand, The Bouncer is nearly perfection,
just a hair away from TTT. The setting still has
been hush-hush and Square won't reveal on the way
the game is played. But it seems as if you roam
around in areas fighting of baddies almost like a
high budget Hollywood flick. But on the other hand
since this game is being developed by Dream Factory,
that could be The Bouncer's quest mode. I'm led to
believe that because I have also seen 1 on 1 action
shots of the game. Bun anyways back to the visuals,
the game seems to be a lot of the PS2's power, such
as anti-aliasing, Z-buffering and the other extra
abilities that the PS2 has to offer.
As was mentioned before, the gameplay is still not a
very know factor, but I think its safe to say that
The Bouncer does have a Quest Mode and a regular
Fighting portion a lot like Ehrgeiz. It has also
been said that the game may have some sort of story
to it, but this time around there will be more depth
involved in it. This may very well be the first
Fighting/RPG game that anybody has pulled out.
The Bouncer is really looking great, the characters
also resemble the design of Final Fantasy characters
and that's an excellent thing. Besides who knows
maybe we all might see FF characters in here as
well. TB (The Bouncer) was expected to be a launch
title but Square had decided to release the game
around summer time. This is one game that I am
definitely looking forward to.
