The World Is Not Enough

PS2 Preview

While cruising EB World's online store I came across TWINE for PS2. I just wanted to check it out just for the hell of it, and to my surprise I came around to a few features about the game, that I want to share. One of the big facts is that the game will be four player compatible via PS2 multi tap. Yes, all rejoice, breath and exhale. The visual detail is expected to be twice the power of the PC versions, ohh man I want to play this game so bad! The game runs on a completely new physics engine specially created for the PS2. And finally what is the most weirdest feature ever, the game can be completed without using a gun! "What the hell", is what you may be thinking. But according to EB World's features list it's true, it's true.

We recently brought you a preview of The World is Not Enough for PS1, now we're following it up with coverage on the PS2 version. TWINE will be EA's first action title for the PS2, and what's better than making it a Bond title. Since EA has plenty of system resources on the PS2 and that is why the PS2 version will run under the most sophisticated PC engine ever. The Quake 3 engine has been secured by EA in order for it to be used on the PS2 version of TWINE. Though at present time there aren't any screens of the game running on the PS2, but EA has released concept art so we can only speculate for the time being.

What do you get when you mix videogaming's most powerful hardware with the one of industry's most heavily hailed game engine? The result is the most beautiful Bond title you will ever see in your life. EA hopes to give gamers an eye candy treat the they will never forget. Since the game will run under a slightly modified version of the Q3 engine you will now be back into the first person perspective instead of the third person view. My suggestion is that EA and Black Ops give gamers a choice in views so that those who are turned off by 1st person views will be aware of a 3rd person view in TWINE. I really hope that Black Ops takes their time with TWINE, because it can very well be a milestone in video gaming.

The gameplay should be something sweet. It has been said that TWINE will feature 10 stages, with new enemies not seen in the movie and stealth/action elements. Unlike the current games we see which involve only one solution for a problem, Bond can now get his way in many ways than one. Just like the movie you will be set in locales such as Istanbul, Baku and the Caucasus Mountains so expect this to be the closest thing you'll ever get to be being Bond, the only thing that keeps you away from it all are the hot babes but with the DVD capabilities...

Now that developers have a lot more RAM to work with that also means that the PS2 version will most likely support a four-player mode via the PS2's snazzy looking Multi Tap. Knowing that the PS2 will have NET support, I can only hope that TWINE will support NET Play. Characters who play key roles as Bond's allies will be included in TWINE as well, the fabulous Dr. Christmas Jones, the late Q and along with M.

TWINE may be a PS2 launch title in US and what a way to start a launch of the PS2, but EA has only hinted that the game will be released in eight months or before the years end. Sex, action, spy, stealth and hopefully having the ability to drive or fly something, this is what a guy wants in his videogame.
