have been getting a lot of questions about
Playstation 2 and most of them are the same. I
decided to post these FAQ pages with most of the
questions that we got in the last few months. This
should answer all of your questions.

How much will the Playstation 2 cost?
A: SCEA announced the price of the PS2 to be $299.
The set price for the Japanese version is 39,800 Yen
which comes out to about $377 in US dollars.
Q:
When will the system be released?
A: Playstation 2 will be released in the US on
October 26th 2000. The system has been released in
Japan on March 4th 2000.
Q: Is
it true that I can use my original Playstation games
in Playstation 2?
A: Yes it is true, PS2 will support the original PS
games and even some hardware like controllers and
memory cards.
Q:
Will the original Playstation games look better on
the PS2?
A: There is an option in the system that allows you
to improve the graphics of the regular Playstation
games. Most tests suggest that the improvements are
not major.
Q:
Will there be many games available when the system
is released in US?
A: There will be plenty of games available on the
first day. The number of 3rd party developers who
will be making games for PS2 is huge already which
will lead to a great gaming library.
Q:
What type of drives will the PS2 use?
A: A 4 speed DVD-ROM drive and a 24 speed CD-ROM
drive.
Q: If
there is a DVD-ROM drive, that means we can use the
system as a DVD player to watch movies?
A: Yes, that means that you can use your PS2 as a
DVD player and it works as any other fully featured
DVD player on the market today.
