Bandai Announces The Legend of Heroes
Known by the name: Eiyuu Densetsu ("Legend of Heroes") Gagharv Trilogy: Akai Shizuku ("Crimson Tears") in Japan, the game is developed by Nihon Falcom in Tokyo. The company is well known for their RPG work on many platforms and brands, including the "Ys", "Brandish" and "Sorcerian Series."
The game also features more than 100 types of original character illustrations by Minako Iwasaki, an ex-Falcom artist who has redrawn her characters specifically for the PSP system.
Just in case you're wondering, the Gagharv Trilogy is actually parts three through five in a five part series. The first two games were released long ago on the PC platform, only in Japan. Part three (which is the first Gagharv Trilogy game) was subtitled "Shiroki Majo" and was released on the PSP in Japan last year. It was universally panned due to terrible load times and various other issues. Part four (which is the second Gagharv Trilogy game) was just release for the PSP in Japan in June of this year, and was better received due to much improved load times and gameplay. That's the game that is coming to North America.
Meanwhile, part 5 of the whole shebang, a.k.a. the third Gagharv Trilogy game, is still being developed and is on schedule for release in Japan right around the time we get Legend of Heroes.
Clear as mud? Good.
Bottom line: PSP is finally going to get some RPG's.
