Admit it, when you first saw Regis' Millionaire show you were hooked, many of you most likely screamed and threw things at your TV because of how stupid one contestant was. It wasn't long that a PC version (created by Sony and Disney) of the #1 TV game show arrived on shelves, and it was certainly no surprise that the game claimed the #1 spot for weeks and weeks. Sony has now got to work on a PS version of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, we all knew that it would happen sooner or later. The game is set to be released in July 2 of 2000, although you don't win any real money, the nerve racking theme will be more than enough to make you feel like you are really in the "Hot Seat".
There is nothing to explain about the visuals, Sony hasn't shown any screens of the game in action, but what action is there really? You will just see a screen exactly like you will see on the TV show, and on it will be displayed the question and answers. A sweet addition to the game is the Regis' himself will be asking the questions, thanks to the capacity of CD storage Sony is able to insert 200-300 Megs of sound files, while leaving all the rest for the gameplay portion. Moving onto gameplay.
Sony has stated that there will be hundreds of questions to answer. What confuses me is that how will the life line "Phone a Friend" work? Will the artificial intelligence make the decision for you or do you have a list of fictional "videogame" buddies to choose from. Who Wants To Be a Millionaire will have all the glitz and glamour that the game show has, like I said Regis will lend his voice to the game to make the experience a very realistic one. Hopefully Sony will bend the rules a little bit and insert a four player mode where four people can square off in a showdown all at the same time answering questions.
Regis will make his debut on the PS this July 2nd, if you love the show then you should definitely go and reserve Millionaire right now. We will keep you posted with screens as they are revealed maybe at this year's E3 show (May 11-13).
