Capcom’s new cel-shaded racer is heading to Japan and the US might just get a copy too; and it has plenty of expensive cars to boot. The Daihatsu Move, Honda S2000 Type V, Lancer Evolution VII, Nissan Skyline GT-R, Mazda MX-7, and the Suzuki Capuccino to name a few. There’s also other licensed cars by companies such as Subaru (Impreza) and Toyota (Supra, Celica).
Not much is known right now about the gameplay modes. Capcom is making Modellista a simulation based racer along the lines of the Gran Turismo and V-Rally series. The cel-shadding looks a bit strange at first sight, but is easy to adjust to. It makes me think of Jet Grind Radio, but with cars instead of hover-blades. In ways, it also looks like an anime cartoon with detail that makes this game's cars and surroundings look cartoony and at the same time realistic.
Auto Modellista features network multiplayer support, enabling you to race friends or strangers all over. Again, not many details are present about the online capabilities. Auto Modellista will see Japanese stores later this year and will, more likely than not, follow shortly after with a US release. Stay tuned, we will keep our eyes peeled on this game.
