After the critically acclaimed success of last years Black Hawk Down, Publisher/Developer Novalogic is bringing a title to the Playstation 2 based on the license. The game will be based on the events that took place in Mogadishu, Somalia in the mid-90's, but will not be specifically focused on the events that took place in the book or movie.
The game is spread out over 15 different missions and incorporates the Comanche 4 engine, which Novalogic used in its latest Comanche game. The engine is able to easily combine flight sims like Comanche 4 with first person shooters such as Flashpoint. Therefore it is likely to assume that Black Hawk Down with incorporate both genres into the game.
Players will encounter situations similar to those that U.S. soldiers were faced with in Somalia. Combat during that police action was far different from most other military encounters, simply because the situation in Somalia consisted of thousands of starving, untrained civilians with no military training. Basically, players will be encountering hordes of men, women and children armed with guns and little else. Therefore, we should expect to see a different kind of military based action than in other games of the genre.
Look for more details on Black Hawk Down as they become available.
