PS3 To Implement Parental Controls

According to the Entertainment Software Association, Sony will implement parent controls in its upcoming PlayStation 3 console.

Parental controls on the PS3 will apply to games, in addition to movies. For example, if a parent doesn't want their child to play M-rated games, they'll be able to block them by accessing a simple menu.

"With the average age of game players now 30, our industry naturally creates content appropriate for a wide range of audiences, just as there are TV shows, films, music and books for people of all tastes, interests and values," said Doug Lowenstein, president of the Entertainment Software Association.

Microsoft's recently-launched Xbox 360 console also includes a similar parental lockout feature.
