Mass Effect 3 User Review
This game starts off right after the Arrival DLC for ME2. Shepard is now no longer on duty and is residing on Earth. Earth is about to be attacked and the council summons him/her to ask what he/she thinks is about to happen.
He bluntly responds that the reapers are here, and they are technologically superior and smarter than any life form in existence.
The game-play remains very similar to the second game, but, weapons can now be modded to personal taste, yours or your squad members'. The squad has been reduced considerably (well, atleast for me) but this allows more detailed relationships to develop between you and your squad. I always liked the gunfights of this game, although after quite a few hours, it gets repetitive. You can now climb ladders and jump of places of a certain height, just to offer more flexibility. Also, and this is a big plus from my side (although it's quite a small addition) double tapping 'X' now makes you vault over obstacles. Sometimes, vaulting was a nightmare in ME2.
The point of the game is to recruit all the races from the galaxy (Turians, Krogan etc) to help you fight off the reapers from Earth. Each one of these races ask you to do them some missions in order for you to procure their forces.
I didn't play multiplayer during my first play-through but got into it soon after i was done. It's quite fun and can suck out plenty of hours but I stopped rather quickly. Still worth a go though.
The story is extremely well written but towards the end of the game (NO SPOILERS) a few plot holes open up, leaving you scratching you head. Your decisions don't have a drastic effect on the ending of the game, but, lots of decisions made previously shows it's effect in the game, maybe small or big.
The graphics are only slightly improved from the second game but that still makes it a real visual gem. I had a few frame-rate problems though. Nothing too serious, doesn't take anything away from the game.
Overall, Mass Effect 3 is an amazing game with a great story. I recommend that you play Mass Effect 2 though, as only then do you truly enjoy the story.
