Medievil 2 User Review
The first was set in a kinda middle earth style area and was a new look at the horror/slasher genre with a great 3rd person feel, it had puzzles and action so was not a specific genre.
both the puzzles and the action were challenging, with also a pretty decent story line.
The second is set in london, although it tells you its london it has nothing else really to hint you that its london apart from the obvious put on London accent. you start off with mindless button bashing and puzzles that just include getting a key that's in the room right next to you, the first 3 levels are simple as have no puzzle or even difficult combat, but at the 3rd it is ridiculous and takes a lot of trial and error, even with the best weapons you can obtain at the time its still pretty much luck that wins the fights for you.
The graphics are better than the 1st but not by much, the scenery is good but the game missed out the amazing cut scenes you got in the first.
In the first game the story line is simple, your sir Dan Fortesque, a knight that died in battle and has been brought to live by an evil wizard/witch called Zarok whos gender is unknown, in the second you've been brought to live by..... Some guy, dan has to stop this "guy" just like he did Zarok, sounds simple right? Well it isn't.The voice acting is decent, we also have a whole page telling us whats happening why your here and what you have to do, in this one you get about 10 seconds of poorly acted dialogue with hardly any explanation, I have completed the game and still don't know whats going on, and at some point they bring in a time machine just to confuse you even more
The only thing that has improved is the weapons, there are machine guns and pistols still with that great style of aiming, but the you get these weapons after you really needed them. Speaking of machine guns what time period is this we have machine guns, spaceships, observatories and mechanical elephants, but still there's people with swords and spears walking around!
Another good point with this game is the mini challenges you can do by putting your head on a hand, but these are hardly in the game and only on one level is it actually needed to use it!
Although its my childhood and holds some good points, its not as good as its farther so a crappy sequel.
