Sony: 9 Tips To Enhance Your PlayStation Vita Experience

The PlayStation Vita is now available and if you've already got one, or you plan on picking one up, you could use a few useful hints and tips.

Most people don't really care about full hardware tear-downs; they just want some practical ideas that make ownership all the more appealing. Therefore, new Vita fans should head over to the PlayStation Blog and check out Sony's 9 favorite tips.

These include moving icons around from screen to screen, backing up save files by transferring them to your PS3 (sounds like a damn good idea), adjusting the screen's brightness and system volume, and creating a custom PSN panel. There are a few more advanced tips, too; ones you probably didn't know about. For instance, you can snap an in-game picture by pressing the PS button and the Start button at the same time. Also, as the Vita supports over 275 legacy digital PSP games, you can improve those lower-resolution products by activating various Settings, including "bilinear flitering" and "color space."

Lastly, gotta love that Bluetooth support! Yes, the Vita has all sorts of capability and this can really make your gaming experience shine.

It's amazing that manufacturers has managed to settle down to using the Bluetooth standard without polluting it. The result is devices able to connect and communicate across all brands and platforms, and for a nerd like me that's such a beautiful, gorgeous, wonderful sight.
Just imagine how different the world would have been if the devices you wanted to connect had to be of the same brand.

Funny little trivia: Did you know that Bluetooth were invented here in Scandinavia, named after the king of Denmark and Norway back when our two countries were in union?

When I was in Europe, it surprised me how well people from Norway, Denmark, Holland, Slovania etc spoke English. Some of you we're easier to understand than some of the English in the UK. Haha

Hehe well thanks! But it must be said that some of the dialects found on the British islands are pretty darn incomprehensible for most people - including the Brits themselves. :D

I wouldn't be surprised if some Europeans spoke better English than people I'd meet at the grocery store here in the US.

And they'll DEFINITELY speak better English than anybody you meet at the DMV. ;)

Indeed Jawknee. There are times when I'm watching Nick Lidstrom of the Red Wings give an interview and forget he's a Swede. His English is quite a bit better than many native speakers of the language.

Ugh, I'm so tempted to just go out and buy one. I have the cash on hand but I'm supposed to be saving. I promised the wife no new consoles for awhile after I bought my 3DS.

I was at taco bell the other day with my family and they had all the graphics up for vita. I was like, "look, that's the new psp vita I told you about. I want one eventually"
she was like, " oh, good, does that mean I get your old PSP when you do" I'm like "yea, yes... ... you do" then I hear emperor palapatines voice in my head "good" cackle "good good"
I still have to bide my time. If I subtly imply I want one on occasion continuously without gesturing direct meaningful intent, out of sympathy to being obeidiant, my master plan may come to fruition.
So basically I'm saying my wife married a Sith Lord.
End of story =p

Jawk, I know you don't know me from Adam, but I can't recommend the Vita enough. Mine has replaced every other portable device I own. If I can get Skype or GoogleTalk on it, I may even stop carrying my cell phone. Ridiculous to most people, I'm sure, but if I could make calls from it, I would have no need at all for a cell phone.

Sell your 3DS and get the Vita. You won't regret it!

Thanks for the tip but I like the 3DS. I have already built up a nice library of games and Kid Incarus comes out next month. I'll have a Vita eventually. Just need to be patient. :)

Oh, I'd never advise making a purchase that can cause internal strife in a relationship. ;)

But as a few people have said, the Vita is pretty impressive. It's just one hell of a portable gaming machine. Still, it might be a good idea to wait for the sales numbers for the first month. If they're really low, you can expect a price cut very soon, as what happened with the 3DS.

Tip #1 if possible play the Vita in close proximity to a Playboy Bunnie to increase gamer fun/Vita fun experience.

They need to add the infamous "10th tip" that people need to know when their vita won't power on or come out of sleep mode.....:/ It's frustrating.

best one being able to take screenshots in game then use them as your lock screen or wallpaper.
love having the big waterfall from golden abyss as my lock screen.

After playing with my Vita for the last 4 days I'm very impressed and pretty much consider it one of the best gaming machines I have ever owned. The thing is just amazing and I can't wait to see what developers and Sony come up with for it in the future.

in the same boat as Jawk purchased day 1 for the 3DS (regret it) i enjoy it, just have to wait a bit longer for the vita i can do that tax season is upon us so after bills are paid hopefully i'll have enough left over to get a vita.

When has sony ever been afraid of other system specs? Theyve always had the more powerfull system, if shitbox720 managed better specs, it will also have a 99% higher failure rate
