Killzone: Mercenary Announced For Vita
We need more Killzone.
Thankfully, we're getting it, and it's coming to Sony's new portable. At Gamescom 2012, Killzone: Mercenary was announced for the PlayStation Vita, along with a teaser trailer that kicks much ass.
We've seen this franchise go handheld before; Killzone: Liberation was available for the PSP, but that was a third-person shooter. Given the dual analog sticks of the Vita, Mercenary should be a very different experience...in all the right ways. There's traditional FPS gameplay as well as touchscreen melee attacks (as shown off in the trailer), and there's the obvious hint that instead of controlling a member of the ISA, you're gonna be a merc this time around.
We don't know when the game is scheduled to arrive, but we're hoping it'll be soon. Chances are, we'll see a lot more details emerge for this game as the year progresses, and we're psyched.

Besides, such new experiences can really help to flesh out the overarching lore of a series as will undoubtedly be done with AC.

From the bunch of games we have on the offering here, no other mobile platform can really compete with the quality on show. Sure there are some really good platformers on mobile, but I think the more full blown 3D games are still lacking somewhat. We will have to see how devs translate the big hitting games onto these mobile platforms other than the Vita.
Only time will tell whether or not the Vita will remain an exclusive platform for the highest of quality games. Sony properties at least will enjoy this exclusivity, but will these AAA portable games be enough to sustain the Vita for many years to come?
Q!

Can't say I like that the trailer was pretty much all live action. Makes me think that this game is actually still a really long way off. Playing both sides of the war though, taking contracts at will could provide a really cool experience and just imagine if it changed things up and allowed Play, Create, Share ideals with players able to come up with missions for each other and alter levels and the like. That'd be truly awesome.
Speaking of Killzone, if anyone's interested I'll be posting a review for Liberation here at the weekend and 3 probably some time next week :)

eh, probably a better thing since this is GGs franchise.
interesting to see how this turns out, i hope they bring back allot of the boss battles that made 2 so great!
3 had better level design and variation, but it was so repetitive it got real boring real fast!
i wish they would move the QTEs to the back touch pad also, it gets so annoying having to take your hand off the device to use the touch screen!
