Vita Can Only Display 100 Apps...This Is Really A Problem?
I've been pretty hard on the PlayStation Vita recently, criticizing its lack of software for the first six months of 2013. But this one, I'm not sure I get.
Granted, I'm not a techie nor am I a gadget freak. Those people who wander around public places with their noses buried in some device (usually their phones) irritate me, and it's just plain infuriating if you're trying to talk to someone and they can't even look up. Hence, I've never understood this obsession with "apps" in the first place, so maybe I'm the wrong person to judge.
According to a NeoGAF member, the PlayStation Vita is only capable of displaying 100 Apps, even with a 32GB memory card and plenty of space available on that card. Shagg_187's card holds around 50 Minis, 10 PS1 games, 20 mandatory apps, and 20 Vita or PSP games and apps. ...seems like an awful lot to me. But it is a little curious as to why the Vita can't handle more than 100 apps, regardless of the available space. So I get that question because it's a somewhat curious situation.
I just wonder how many people are going to care. Like I said, I'm very much not rolling with the majority; I think have maybe ten apps on my phone, half of which my brother put there when he was fiddling with it. I'm sure I don't have many on the Vita, either; nowhere near close to 100. But maybe others do, and this limit is indeed problematic. Do you have an issue with it? Are you approaching the limit now?

Seems to simply be a design flaw, it's hard coded to have ten screens with ten icons each. A very strange decision, but I can't understand anything else than that this should be possible to fix with a patch.

Nintendo patched the 3DS so that it could hold 18,000 icons for apps. They did this by allowing users to create folders that could hold up to 60 icons per folder.
A similar thing could be done on Vita.

As the Vita grows up this will definitely be a problem for MP3, Mini and PS1 users though.

I do like the Vita's 10 splash screens - I take photos of families and friends on holiday, then put 3-5 apps 'around' the main subject of the photos, works really well (although it means I'll have a max of 40-odd apps on my Vita, but so far I'm doing fine).

I'm with you, Ultimadream. They're like desktop icons - if you have that many, you aren't using a lot of them, so why have them. I have 20 or so and I usually delete some if I'm not using them. I can't imagine filling the thing.
