GameStop Hopes To See A Vita Price Cut For The Holidays
There's little doubt that Sony hopes PlayStation Vita sales will rise when the PlayStation 4 arrives on store shelves.
Given the connectivity and multimedia features, there's every chance that the PS4 could entice gamers into picking up the Vita. And GameStop president Tony Bartel says either a price cut or a new hardware bundle just before the launch of the PS4 would help.
In speaking to Forbes, the GameStop boss said it just "makes sense" to make the Vita more appealing this holiday season.
"With multi-screen gaming continuing to rise in popularity, I think you’ll see more gamers purchase a Vita to take advantage of the enhanced gameplay offered by the PS4. We’re always happy to see a price cut! Both bundles and price cuts tend to spur additional sales, so this would make sense leading up to launch."
One of the more intriguing announcements during the PlayStation Meeting was the fact that PS4 titles could be streamed directly to the Vita. This is thanks to integrated Gaikai technology; the PS4 acts as a server and sends video directly to the handheld's screen, and then the game can be played remotely on the Vita. It's features like these that make being a Vita owner a little more interesting if a PS4 is sitting in your living room.
And of course, a price cut could really boost sales. Immediately after the Vita price drop in Japan, sales quadrupled.

I wonder if Sony is banking on Vita sales increasing in the US when the PS4 is launched. Considering all of the integrated features. I'm sure sales will surge because of this but a cut would definitely move units as well. Particularly for those who only want a VITA. I can't wait for the 4 to join the family.

it will, especially since they just did so for JP.
hopefully at E3.
not only would it help the vita sell, it would also help the ps4 sell since there is suppose to be even more significant integration then there is with the ps3.
