The Walking Dead Shambles To Vita

The PlayStation Vita's lacking library just got a little boost.

It has been confirmed that Telltale Games' award-winning downloadable series, The Walking Dead, will be coming to Sony's new portable this year. We're not sure yet if all five available chapters of the game will release episodically as they were before, or if they'll be bundled together in a package deal.

In speaking to IGN, PlayStation director of product planning and platform software innovation Don Mesa said this move "sends a strong message." Evidently, the message is that Sony will continue to support the Vita with great games, and we certainly hope to see more of them. The Walking Dead isn't new (and the Vita needs new software more than anything), but the quality of the series in question does make the handheld a little more appealing.

Thus far, the five episodes have been downloaded over 8.5 million times, and the average user spends $16. But I still wanna know when Killzone: Mercenary is coming out.

Yeah, it really is. We haven't done a preview on a Vita game in months (and by the way, neither has most major sites), because nothing is on the horizon. Nothing even remotely significant has come out since late last year and the first six months of 2013 are almost completely barren.

The Vita started with plenty of games. Great launch. Since then...a wasteland of software, unfortunately. Not a single review done this year because there are no games. A grand total of 5 reviews done in the last 6 months of last year and only a few weren't available on the PS3.

If that's not the epitome of "lacking," please explain to me what is.

Yea, I agree. Vita's libraty is not lacking. Maybe in new games... but PSV has a huge library of games.

I would also like to know when KZ:M is coming out. This is nice. I'll put it on the table for consideration, but am going to need a larger memory card.

Now if only Journey was on the Vita. Wouldn't that be nice?

Loved The Walking Dead. Very emotional. Played it on my Mac and it was buggy as hell. Hope they fix that before it comes out on the Vita. I might rebuy it down the track if I'm feeling flush.

Would love Journey as well.

Limbo has been confirmed as coming over to the very lacking and unsupported Vita. Sony you need to work harder, some people still don't believe you're doing enough. Some people only play Hotshots Golf and ignore all the other top-notch titles you have loaded up in the store. It's just not good enough Sony.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, AC: Liberation and now this. A few more announcements like this will sell me on the Vita for sure...or a price drop.

I would buy it. I beat it on the PS3 and everything, but only went through it once. So if it added a whole separate list of trophies for the Vita (even if they are the same trophies), then playing through it again on the Vita could really sound appealing.

indeed it sends a message, a very bad one!
message being dont buy the vita all it offers is games that were available for the ps3 months if not years ago!
no ones going to spend 400+ bucks on a vita, plus 70+ bucks for every god dam game, plus the 60+ bucks for a decent sized memory card, 20 bucks for a pouch, 20 bucks for a hard case.
all that so i can play games my ps3 can play?
and did a year or so ago!?
no thanks!
