Capcom: "No Plans" To Bring Monster Hunter 4 To Vita

This isn't what many PlayStation Vita owners wanted to hear.

Monster Hunter was one of the big reasons the PSP came on strong (especially in Japan) in recent years. Therefore, you would expect Capcom to bring the much-loved franchise to Sony's new portable.

However, it isn't happening yet. According to what Capcom COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto told Mantan Web (as cited by Siliconera), the company has opted to side with the Nintendo 3DS. So for now, there are no plans to bring the upcoming Monster Hunter 4 to the Vita.

"We want to have as many people as possible play it on the 3DS, and we are only thinking about making it succeed."

Obviously, part of the problem is that there simply aren't that many Vitas out there. There weren't at the start of the PSP's lifespan, either, and so, we had to wait a bit for Monster Hunter. Therefore, maybe we'll see the esteemed handheld series in the future...provided the Vita can survive.

Monster Hunter 4 launches exclusively on the 3DS on September 14 in Japan. We don't have a North America date just yet, but the title is expected to sell 2.8 million copies in Japan by March 2014.

What a shame, this 1 title alone could really help sell more units. Capcom doesn't want to risk making a game for the vita due to low sale numbers, but if there are no games how do they expect it to grow. A vicious cycle.

You're completely right - I mean I was certain that if this came out for the VITA in japan...japan would definitely be all over the VITA.

Gosh...the VITA needs more killer software.

Dang. A vita verson would be much better than a 3DS game.

Nintendo has CINDER BLOCKED the Vitas Cock on Monster Hunter!

Quite a tactic on Ninty's part. MH:Vita would cause a sales surge like no other title so far. But it seems like there is still some hope.

Oh well. The Monster Hunter series isn't needed to make the Vita thrive. Another strong series like Battlefront is needed, though. Hopefully Borderlands 2 is going to be a step in the right direction.

I truly think with games like killzone and borderlands we are looking at the games made for vita! I've always wanted to play fps multiplayer games on the go and you can't do that on 3DS and you can't do that on a tablet without a controller (and a large tablet + controller is a lot to use just for portable gaming)

This makes no sense whatsoever. They should know Monster Hunter would sell great on Vita as well as grow its installed based for this game. Me thinks Nintendo is pulling Microsoft like tactics on this one

It's as simple as this, Capcom is probably using assets that work on the 3DS/PSP. Putting those assets on the Vita will look ugly. So to create a brand new Monster Hunter for Vita would be from the ground up and there isn't a big enough install base to make it worth while.

Seriously, MH on the Vita is a no brainer. There has to be a reason for it whether it's Nintendo throwing money at Capcom or what I just stated. Tt doesn't care so that is why we see Lego 3DS ports to Vita. This is truly disappointing. Just know this that with the Vita/MC price cut Capcom won't be able to ignore the Vita forever. I am guessing MH5 will come to the Vita. By then the install base will be probably 10 million making it worth while. I think the Vita is doing just fine without MH IMHO.

I hate to buy a 3DS for only this :S but what to do. Let's hope they have a good Zelda game too.
