Sony: Vita Remains A "Much Loved And Respected Machine"
The PlayStation Vita deserves to be more popular than it is. Unfortunately, the sales continue to be very low.
That doesn't mean Sony is giving up, though. During a recent DigitalSpy interview with SCE UK Managing Director Fergal Gara, the company admits that sales thus far aren't quite where they want them to be, but-
"It’s important on both levels. It’s not the biggest seller we’ve ever had, but it is still a very much loved and much respected machine."
Gara added that it's "now far more keenly priced" and it's also "becoming more of a digital machine in terms of more and rich digital content." Of course, it also makes for a great companion to the newly released PlayStation 4, as Sony mentioned in a recent trailer. But in the end, Gara admitted that it doesn't matter how Sony views the device; all that matters is what gamers think of it:
"We believe that feature is very compelling; it doesn’t matter what we think, it matters what gamers think, and as of tonight they get a chance to try it and give us their feedback, and we’re hopeful that feedback will be good and therefore it has a dual life from here on in, both as a standalone, very effective gaming machine and as a brilliant companion to PS4."
Well, what do you think? The general consensus is that Sony simply needs to produce more games - specifically, more exclusive games - for the handheld. That would help a lot.
