Media Invitation Hints At Slimmer Vita For US, Europe?
Even if this does result in a slimmer Vita for North American and European regions, I still say they need to focus on the games. That's critical.
Anyway, it appears that Sony is about to announce something that involves the concept of "slim." An invitation has been sent out to the media (pictured here) and it says:
"Following the biggest launch in PlayStation history, join us for an introduction to the slimmest."
Sony launched a slim model of the Vita in Japan last year. That was supposed to be 20 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter, but it lost that gorgeous 5-inch OLED screen. Instead, they replaced it with an LCD display, which I personally wouldn't like as much. At the time, Sony said they had no plans to distribute the slimmer version outside of Japan, but that stance may have changed.
Then again, there's a chance that Sony slimmed down the PlayStation 3 even further. That typically happens soon after a new hardware launch; the last-gen machine gets a "small" treatment. The PS2 shrunk like mad, remember? We'll have to wait and see what Sony has in store...
