Vita May Interact With Project Morpheus
This could boost interest in Sony's handheld, once we have some official details.
It seems Sony has hinted at the possibility of the PlayStation Vita interacting with Project Morpheus, the company's new virtual reality project.
This according to Simon Benson, director of Sony's Worldwide Studios Immersive Technology Group, who spoke during a recent press event for Morpheus in London (via CVG).
Benson said the Vita might be used as part of SCE's "social screen" initiative, which would act as a second screen for VR experiences:
"Really you want to make sure this isn’t an isolated sort of thing. In the old days it was pass the controller, now it’s pass the virtual reality headset, you know? But everyone can be involved. One thing we have on there is this thing we call a social screen that allows you to see what the person that’s in the virtual reality space sees on the TV. So they can see the experience and therefore talk to them. They can actually interact with it and maybe use a Vita as a second screen and actually control what’s going to happen to this other person and then see the reaction which is often priceless."
Do you think this is will help generate more consumer interest in the Vita? Or does it sound more like an optional gimmick that may not matter much? Guess we'll have to see how well Morpheus performs before we make any further judgments...
