The End Is Nigh For PlayStation TV
It just never got going.
It appears Sony has announced the discontinuation of PlayStation TV in Japan, as reported by DualShockers.
The device has an "End of Shipments" label on a Japanese website and though there's no specific end date, it's obvious that the end is nigh: They plan to discontinue the system itself and the bundle that comes with a DualShock 3 controller and memory card. You can still get it here in North America, though; it's available for less than $45 at Amazon.
PlayStation TV launched at $99 in the U.S. when it released in October 2014 but we've heard about retailers cutting way back on available stock. It's too bad, too, because the concept was pretty sound. This microconsole lets you play many Vita and PSP titles on a TV, as well as some digital PS1 classics. It can even stream PS4 games from one PS4 console in your home to a separate television via Remote Play.
I've got one. But I've just never used it, which says a lot, right?
