PS4/PS Vita Exclusive Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana Gets TV Commercial Showing Gameplay And Cutscenes

In case you're unaware, the next YS game, YS VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, is set to release this coming July for PS Vita in Japan. Falcom has released a new TV spot video clip for their upcoming action game, where we can see some gameplay action along with some of its scenario.

The commercial is brief, but gives us a glimpse on both gameplay and cutscenes. Check it out below.

The video shows gameplay action along with the two protagonists in Adol and Dana. For more info on the new characters and the counter-attack battle system of the game, you can check out this link from Gematsu.

The last Ys title, Memories of Celceta, was released in Japan in 2012 for the PlayStation Vita. Four years later, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is the long-awaited new title for the Ys series. The game takes place in the Goethe Sea, located in southern Greek (the Ys equivalent of our Greece), on the Seiren Island, suspended in the sea’s waters. Adol’s new adventure begins as he travels there to learn about the legends buried underneath those waters. The game will feature a myriad of skills, as well as free-dash and free jump actions. On top of it, Flash Move and Flash Guard will also be making a return. As expected, this game will carry the high-speed action that the Ys series is known for having.

The popular automapping system from Ys Celceta will also be making a return as cartography will once again play a role in the new title. You will seek out drifting villages in the sea and take part in their expansion and development. There will also be campaign battles where you must defend the villages from attacks as well. This new system will bring a new, exciting component to the series.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will release in Japan on July 21, 2016 for PlayStation Vita. The PlayStation 4 version will release in 2017. There is still no news yet for the release date of the US version of the game. I've never had the chance to finish Memories of Celceta on my Vita, as I've been playing a lot of games on my PS4 lately. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it before the US version of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana comes out. How about you guys, will you be getting Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana when it releases in the US?

Holy action. Could be good staying in the anime realm though.

Looks pretty slick. Still a little more interested in I am Setsuna for now. It's just hard to argue with a team that is dedicated to producing classic style JPRGs. Minus the AAA production piece, but still.

Summer 2016 as far as I can tell. That's almost damn near now. I bet it would go nicely with No Man's Sky come June and July.
