Sony, Taco Bell To Give Away One Vita Every 15 Minutes
Remember how Sony said they'd have big advertising campaigns in place for the PlayStation Vita?
Well, here's one example. Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) and Taco Bell Corp. have announced a new "Unlock the Box" promotion to give away one Vita unit for every 15 minutes. Yeah, you read that right. The fun starts on January 26 and gamers will have the opportunity to grab Sony's nifty new portable before it officially launches in North America (and other major regions) on February 22.
Said senior vice president of marketing and the PlayStation Network at SCEA, Guy Longwort:
"This partnership is the perfect way to deliver PS Vita's game changing technology directly to our passionate fans in the weeks leading up to launch. We know anticipation around PS Vita in the U.S. is reaching a fever pitch, and we're happy to be working with Taco Bell to give away one PS Vita for every fifteen minutes, ensuring thousands of gamers get their hands on the revolutionary entertainment system before it becomes available in stores."
At participating Taco Bell locations between January 26 and March 11, PlayStation fans can show up and "Unlock the Box." Codes will be placed on specially marked $5 Buck Boxes (these include a Cheesy Gordita Crunch, Crunchy Taco, Burrito Supreme, and medium fountain drink), and the codes can be entered online for an instant chance to win a Vita prize pack. The prize pack boasts a 3G/Wi-Fi Vita (apparently, it can be either/or), a copy of Little Deviants, a 4GB Memory Card, and your choice of the following titles: ModNation Racers: Road Trip, LittleBigPlanet, or MLB 12: The Show.
But there's more. You can also win through Taco Bell's mobile app by battling your buddies on Reality Fighters Dojo, an exclusive augmented reality game set on the $5 Buck Box. The other way to win is by entering an online contest that will ask you what you'd be willing to do for a Vita; consumer videos and images are submitted and placed in a gallery, where viewers can vote. Oh damn...it just popped into my head... "What would you do-o-o...for a..."
So who's up for some Mexican food? Okay, not Mexican at all but our high-fat American take on Mexican food?

You got.... REAL... PURE... maple syrup? Damn.... I'm jealous. I'm gonna have to take a trip out to sugar-moon farm for some pancakes, real maple syrup, sausage and baked beans in their big log cabin warmed by great big fireplace.
Seriously.... small little place in Nova Scotia... amazing.... to die for. Why are the best places to eat the small, unheard of places?

So I'm hoping that Subway which usually does PS3 gaming deals, also winds up doing some kind of free Vita promotion too
