Vita TV Ad Spotted, Features "World Is In Play" Slogan
It's not a bad slogan- "The World is in Play." I would've gone for something more catchy like "Livin' la Vita Loca," but I imagine Sony would run into some licensing issues with that one. ...still like mine better.
Anyway, what you see here is clearly a European ad (or at least, we're making that assumption) for Sony's new portable. Yesterday, Sony revealed that their slick new handled was the company's largest platform launch in regards to marketing. They're investing $50 million in pushing the Vita and obviously, some of that went to this commercial.
So what do you think? Of course, we're not actually seeing the Vita in action; hell, we're not really seeing it at all, but it's a very cool teaser. We figure most people upon viewing it would go, "okay, what's that for and where can I see it?" It's all about tickling that buying bone, you know?

This spot is better but once again it's pretty obscure with very little of the actual product shown. I'm afraid that add might fly right over the general publics collective heads. A simpler and more targeted approach might work better as an introductory add.

It mixes that whole real world strangeness and difference that we saw with those odd PS2 "Get on board" ads, but it still delivers the message that the Vita is THE gaming handheld to own for true gamers.
And Sony does show it in the end.
Like the PS3, I believe the Vita is a marathon to success, not a sprint.
As for 3DS, the price drop and the release of Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land certainly helped propel that little handheld. 3D looks cool (especially in SM3DL) but when it comes to 3rd party multiplat games, I'll go with Vita over 3DS anyday!!!
